If New Order really are going to continue as a two piece with hired hands then they might as well fuck Dawn Zee (and the other anonymous session chicks) off as backing singers and recruit my two dogs Checkers and Marbles instead. I'm sure theyd go down a real treat.

Got to be those three or no three. It could all go a bit Stone Roses at Reading I think. Don't like the idea of them doing Joy Division songs with an actor singing either. I can understand people wanting to still see them live, but without Hooky it isn't new order. although i'd still go, obviously, in case they do face up.

Sure, NO can exist without Hooky. They won't play live, but will either have Bernard doing bass in the studio, or get someone in to do it.
Bernard is well known for his not wanting to play live, and doesn't exactly take much persuasion to not gig.
There won't be (m)any more gigs if they do carry on without Hooky, even if they get Jim Reilly Jim Reilly on bass!
The one positive thing that could come out of this statement is that if New Order are still technically a going concern then we might get a Sirens' Leftovers release sooner rather than later. The label spent money on the studio time so they've got to want some sort of return. Unless of course they've forgotten they even have New Order on their roster (likely).
There's no reason why Barney, Phil and Steve couldn't do a Let's Go 1995-like job on the remaining '05/06 material and put it out as a 2 disc deluxe edition of WFTSC to get a few more sales in the bag.
Live-wise it definitely wouldn't be the same without Hooky but I'd still make an effort to get to gigs.
Got to say the NO + Sam Reilly live idea sounds really, really shit and I'd rather they just ended it instead of doing that... leave just a hint of credibility behind for the legacy.
I expect Hookys reaction to be the same as what he stated before. Something like, 'Sure they can continue, but not under the name New Order. We made a pact that when one member leaves for any reason, the remaining members must drop the existing name,' whatever something like that crappy statement.

For a 'stand in' Phil has lasted a pretty impressive 7 years. Don't put the guy down, not his fault he joined the band BY INVITE 20 years late.

Not sure bout this one,Hooky's bass IS the quintessential (prob spelt wrong) sound of new order and personally i dont think anyone else could pull it off.
I think they'll be bigger than Pink Floyd!! Or maybe someone else said that the last time a band member left. I forget.
I'd think it would be great if they carried on but that means that they have to do something... release the rest of the WFSTC or make a new one. I hope they do either soon but I won't put money on it. This would be the year to do it with Control and 100 Joy Division offspring bands out there.
