it's of course just my point of view, but Hooky really should think abut whether compiling crap Hacienda CDs, being a novelty celebrity DJ and recording with Freebass (heard only one demo, so it's too early to judge them) is his way for the future.

You'll get thrown out of these forums for such rational and reasoned comments!

Well done, sir.

Rrrright, so it's all Barney's fault now, is it?!

New one on me, perhaps you know something we don't?

Hooky doesn't have a problem with Steve because, er, he went to the Mojo awards with him? He was pictured at Cannes with BOTH Steve and Barney. Did you miss that one? Am sure the pics will be here online.

And I don't actually recall Hooky ever saying anything particularly untoward about Barney in all of this. He just doesn't want to be part of New Order anymore. Doesn't appear to be anything sinister about his decision. He's just got other avenues to explore now, other priorities in his life.

Fcuk me, and you accuse me of second-guessing people!

I didn't mention anything about it being Barney's fault, that was my point about people second guessing, but did you miss Hookys' quote about 'me & Bernard have decided not to work together anymore'? Not,'me,Bernard & Steve'.Plus, going to Cannes to promote a film about your group is a bit different than travelling to London for the Mojo awards with just Steve.Read it how you will, that's just my opinion.

Anyway,as Jack mentioned, there's far too many posts about speculation & opinion rather than really knowing anything  :thumb:

There's a set worth of material that wouldn't rely on his sound I'm sure....

Maybe we don't know the whole story, but surely to avoid speculation and finger pointing, Hooky would've been best off keeping quiet? sorry to use an old playground term but.. 'he started it!!'

I'm going to come back to this in a few weeks, it'll either all be sorted out or we'll still be none the wiser... At least it'll save reading pages and pages of speculation and virtual fisticuffs... Makes me wonder how they ever wrote even a half-decent tune if they can't even communicate with each other... :nonono:

I still say this: how can the Order even continue as the Order without him? If the original statement (that Hooky stands by regarding the name) - "if one of us leaves/dies etc, you cannot continue as New Order" - was implimented, why did they continue as NO when Gillian retired? The paradox in this is intriguing: did they regard Gillian as a helping hand rather than a full member?

Not wishing to see my favourite band rip themselves apart amid acrimony, please please please reconsider. What has become so bad that you cannot work together anymore and that one founder member has become disenfranchised to the point where he calls time on something that has been his life for thirty years?

Steve + Barney but - Hooky will not be New Order. It would be better to end things totally than carry on as a pale shadow without the real driving force/soul of the band. Either that or discuss things calmly with Hooky to resolve your differences. The present option is a shit one, Barney and Steve, and you know it is too.

As El Jarvo said, this is the first bit of good news I've seen on here in a long while. I found reading Barney and Steve asserting "New Order are still here" to be really uplifting even if Hooky has decided he can't continue with them.

I think the reason some fans may be becoming frustrated in Hooky's direction is because he's been quite vocal at literally every opportunity regarding the band's demise yet refuses to elaborate even slightly on why.

Coming from a Monaco and to a lesser extent Revenge die-hard, Hooky's extra-curricular activies don't seem to be that steller at the moment; we've got that Freebass demo which I thought was extremely average, the er, superstar deejaying and the milking to death of the Hacienda myth. Part of me asks, he left New Order for that? It just seems like a massive own goal that he may regret in a year or two.

Then again he may not, as Jack points out none of us really know what goes on behind closed doors.

Due to recent questions that have arisen over the future of New Order at both the Cannes Film Festival and the Mojo Awards, Bernard Sumner and Stephen Morris have today decided to issue a press statement.

Bernard and Stephen - After 30 years in a band together we are very disappointed that Hooky has decided to go to the press and announce unilaterally that New Order have split up. We would have hoped that he could have approached us personally first. He does not speak for all the band, therefore we can only assume he no longer wants to be a part of New Order.

Whatever happens musically or otherwise, New Order have NOT split up, they continue to exist.

New Order will be making no further comment about this matter.

So Steve Morris is Joining Electronic?

They're threatening to play Glasto next year as JOY DIVISION with that sam reilly on vocals?

Hooky whats to design trainers no fucker will wear and play records for a living?

You know Bernard, Peter & Steve i dont think i really give a toss anymore.

The reality is you've all been pissing around since Factory went tits up. I couldn't care less for FreeBass, I wouldn't be arsed about another Electronic album, If Hooky aint on board do you expect me to buy Republic 2?

Oh, and i've really no desire to 'watch' you play Captain & Fuckin Tenille Peter...

In my eyes, you've become everything i thought you never would - a joke. The child like arguing, putting out multiple compilations of stuff i dont want and turning into the Sugarbabes with the new members coming & going.

Do me a favour, make another album as good as the 80's stuff or fuck off. Waiting for the sirens call? Im just waiting for the new Radiohead album NOT your next cliffhanger.

Still not entirely sure how Steve "joining" Barney is Electronic when Johnny Marr is nowhere to be seen?

well...it's half of Electronic, so it's just as easy to see as calling New order New order when it's only half of new order (without Hook and Gilbert....no???)

We're getting silly here now....

time for me to go take a nap...

I do - it's simple! :shades: :smoking:

(Electronic, to me, just sounded like New Order without bass - at least early Electronic was...)

Bloody hell is this still going on? I was thinking today that New Order without Hooky for soem reason reminds me of what BIGINOIL posted the other week about Barney sitting down to piss like a lady .Why is there a connection there?

I think Barney would feel so lost on stage without Hooky he would sit down and piss like a lady .That must be it , yes
