When Gillian left, I think we should remember it was because one of her children was ill, and she decided to look after them - an admirable reason to depart, and, as far as I know, there was no row or disagreement between GG and the rest of the group (hence her appearance at the 2005 Alexandra Palace awards show). With Hooky, it's rather more public.
I hope everyone can work this out without lawyers, they are expensive.

In fairness, if he's refering to what was said here after the "hooky blames barney and steve" bullshit, then he's perfectly correct, I was horrified at how many folk here took the moron interpretation over the entirely sensible one, just re-iterated by the man himself.
I wonder if Hooky didn't try to get Barney and Steve to go out as Joy Division to take advantage of all the press. Barney and Steve said "no" as per their agreement not to continue without Ian as JD. Hooky said then I'm done with NO and you two can't continue with out me.
I agree with those who say that they love the band PERIOD! Every band has it's foundation album and it's capstone album and then everything afterwards is just enjoyed by those who truely love listening to ANYTHING the band produces. A poor comparison would be the Rolling Stones. How they continue to sell is beyond me but their die hard fans will buy anything that has those red lips on it.
As for those who continue to pulverize the last few releases go listen to what ever you want to. I'll stay here and wait for whatever these guys and girl release. I have always enjoyed their music and always will no matter what incarnation they are at the time. Thanks for everything you brilliant Mancunians!

I had to check in and see how this lot was handling this ugly end... the only thing more pathetic than two warring factions calling themselves "New Order" when neither has done anything to warrant using the name for years is the fact that most of the fans around here will gladly pay to see BOTH "BANDS" when they play in Vegas on consecutive nights... Hooky will have Pottsy doing his Bernard impression (maybe he can bulk him up on lager and milkshakes to create a vivid impression) and Bernard and Steve will have John Entwhistle (oops maybe not) or Barry Adamson (that would be cool actually) or Paul McCartney (very uncool actually) playing the Shergold six string... what a truly pathetic and depressing end
As Bernard said just after Ian died, "a name means nothing; its what you do that makes it what it is"... well this lot has done nothing but tarnish the brand they created and fostered for so many years... now they can fight over the ashes...
In the meantime there is a big bad world of music and art which is inspired by the same forces that produced the excitement that briefly existed in this bands work... all you dolts have to do is open up your ears and eyes and let it in... the greatest favor you could do for this group of pathetic losers is ignore them... they really deserve no less

Since Factory went they've submitted to everything they held out against that made them so special.

I'm not with you. To this day, New Order, as inferior as it may be to their old self, is still better than a lot of other bands. WFTSC was not their best, but some of the songs were mighty good IMO. The is still no one else I want to listen to than New Order. I listen to Kraty almost everyday, they're still freaking good to my ears. So yeah, I still care.
What they need is a break. 6 months without doing anything, then all go for a quiet beer and say how they feel.
Lets be honest, Hooky's DJing is based on ONE thing - the fact that after his name on the posters it says (New Order). He might be a decent fella and all that but he ISN'T a proper DJ. There isn't one person here that couldn't do what he does.
Bernard & Steve, how can they seriously consider carrying on under the New Order moniker when it clearly wouldn't be, they'll only destroy what they've already done. Surely Steve must have thought about quitting himself with the little one being ill and Gillian leaving?
Barney would be better doing something else, who says that Marr has to be on every Electronic album? He could draft him him for a couple of tracks, Tom & Ed for a couple more and work with others on some other tracks.
It may be sad, but i think with all the press that the 'split' has attracted its too late to kiss & make up. They've already taken something away from it, they should've just finished the last tour and said nothing.

What is this thing people have against WFTSC? So it wasn't NO cerca '85' or '89'.....no shit....its a 2005 album...25 years have past....20 years of them maturing....25 years of new technology....anyone that complains about WFTSC can fuck right off! Its a big reason this breakup probably happened...all because people want NO the way they personally "want" them, stuck in a time warp......Some fans really have their heads up their arses thinking that any band does it to please them personally.....

It's all a bit of a fucking mess.
DO you remember the rock family trees tv show where hooky was talking about how guttted he was be the 93 end of new order. Its kind of typical of them to pull a disater from the jaws of victory by doing it now when there will be huge levels of press attention on their music following the release of control. All 3 (whatever happened to phil by the way??) should pause and realise that like it or not the music they create as no of jd has always been better than their individual talents. If there is any douby about that just listen to all the various splinter groups . WHat they really need is a gretton like figure to bang their heads together and stop releasing all the poison in public, hopefully alan wise or Tony wilson or maybe cofi annan can do the job. This ending is just plain sad. Hooky you were always my fave member but do you really thing that playing records in clubs has greater merit than some of the truly great music you have shaped? The freebase track on your myspace (albeit half finished) is neither revolutionary nor interesting nor a patch on any of the stuff you have done before. We know you are upset with each other but briefing against each other in the press and writing angsty teenage blogs wont help matters. Im grateful for all the pleasure you music has given but come on you're not 13 and should know that if you and the oethers carry on like this it is going to be a very sad end to a great musical chapter.
I don't know why everyone rags on WFTSC - aside from "Working Overtime", it's better than the 'Movement' and 'Power, Corruption..' by some margin.

They're either recording and touring together, or they're not.
