Thankfully, the people who usually show for these sorta things aren't the dickheads who blow their tops online regularly and get all precious and hissy about stuff.
Oh, except for me, natch. ![]()

my dad's not doing all this to be a bastard, new order has been a major part of his life for over 25 years. he's doing this because things have happened within that band that cannot be repaired, and you people on here have no idea what's happened so you should all just accept that the band is gone for now and try and get over it, instead of slating the one person who's trying to tell you all what's going on.
Very good points all of them, Jack, especially the last one. Couldn't agree more with everything you said there. The people making the most noise about the MySpace blog have clearly been delighted by the whole thing - pouring over every word then dashing on here to offer their crappy opinions. Closet Hello readers the lot of them. And, as I said before, good luck to anyone who fancies spouting some of this crap to Hooky in person (or, it would seem, his daughter). Apart from anything else - he's always come across to me as far bigger New Order fan than anyone here can pretend to be, however you measure your fan-ness. Whatever the reason behind this row, I'm sure it's been a long time coming and is something that everyone's thought about. And is anyone really convinced by the passive aggressive stance taken by the other two in their pissy Press Statement to the NME? What a load of bollocks - just as confrontational as anything Hooky's ever written: calculated to be as irritating as possible. And, as well-connected as I am (ie not very), I've heard tons of rumours about what Barney and Steve have been up to in the past few months - far more than I would hear when the band were active. This band were famous for their secrecy, now we seem to hear something new exery week. So what's going on there? Someone leaking news in the hope that it would get back to Hooky, just to wind him up more? Surely not. Classic relationship breakdown behaviour, I'm afraid.

Right. So that'll be Jarvo in the toilet arguing with himself in the mirror. Dont forget to put the seat back up and check the mirror on the way out.![]()

Yeah, cos right enough, if someone dandered up to you in the bar and said "oi, Jarvis, yer da's a cunt!", you'd buy them a beer as opposed to beating them to a twitching jelly?
Even I'D get miffed at that, and my da IS a cunt.
Fcuk me. Talk about blowing this out of proportion.
If someone called my Dad a cunt, I'd kick them into tomorrow.
If, however, my Dad had a rant on a Myspace blog and someone read it and said, "Fcuk me, your old fella was a bit strong there, wasn't he?" I'd have to agree.
Big difference, Cambo.
...and just for the record, if an American with a French-sounding name called Mr Jarvis Senior a "fucking immature prick"..?
Don't answer that, Al. ![]()

Yup, sure thing is, Hooky gave a lot to us in the last year with NOOL Day and Community 2...
For the record, I'd still be waiting if my original plan to have each member of the band pick 1 song would have been done. But that's ok, I can understand they had other things to do, it would have been a nice gesture, but I was thrilled at least one of them did it.
And you're absolutely right, nobody outside the band knows what is really going on and everything else is pure speculation.
Cheer up Jack, I know this is difficult for you, but as I wrote on your dad's blog, it shows people care in some twisted way.

Frads, where have you BEEN? We've NEEDED you here these past few days! People have been trying to be so BEASTLY to one another, but they're not very good at it.
Come on, you can be rude to us all. You're the best at being rude.
Go on, you can start on me...

My Mum still recounts that little confab you had with my old fella on my wedding day.

When we got that lock in with him in Glasgow in 2004, he sat and answered all our questions for a good two hours after his DJ Set..... One of the best nights I've ever had.
Personally, I am just sad about the way everything has come out over the last few months and it opens up the debate for eveyone, even if they are full of pish and don't know all the facts. Hence my silence.
I cannae imagine a gig without him prowling around the stage and growling at us. But life goes on and I'd still go see New Order and buy any new material that was to come out, with or without Hooky.

I've pretty much kept out of this, but it saddens me that the relationship has deteriorated to the extent it clearly has. Nothing lasts forever though, we've all had some great times with the band along the way, and the friendships forged will survive anything that appears on here, the NME or MySpace.
It would be preferable, to me at least, if there were no more of these "statements" and "counter-statements", McCartney and Mills it ain't. If the band do decide to carry on with a replacement bassist, under whatever name, so be it. Can't see 'em gigging without the only band member who enjoyed gigs, but if they do then I'm sure most of us will be there, as we will when Freebass play and when Hooky is DJing near us.
What it doesn't need is a load of bickering on here. Hooky has his reasons for leaving New Order, so to me we should respect that rather than criticising what we don't know. I'm glad they stuck around the last few years to give us some more great songs and gigs, and to allow the Vikings to meet up at gigs and through this site, it would have been shit if it had all finished in 1993.

Right, that's it, I'm off down the bookies to see what odds I can get on a reformed New Order coming back at Christmas with a cover of "Ebony & Ivory".
Could happen. ![]()
I wouldn't presume to know any of what's happened and I think none of us should judge or call names. (I can't believe someone called him an immature whatever - actually, I can believe it, makes me sad there are people who are fundamentally so disrespectful).
It's made me sad that it has and that things have come to this stage, but as someone else said, Hooky loves New Order / JD more than anyone else in the world, and I'm sure that Hooky has tried all he could think of to make the relationship work. It's a shame, but the important thing now is to move forward and enjoy what we do have.
Oh, that sounded disgracefully hippieish. I better put some music on, and everyone exercise some calm.

Sorry, Colin: if you want 'rude' you'll have to check out my increasingly adolescent PR outbursts at MySpace.
And, no, it's my ball and you can't play with it anymore.
One thing i know: barney can be a cunt!! i wonder what he did this time. I hope Hooky was at his wedding. At least for one day, i hope they put their differences aside. Friendship comes before the music. We got more than a fair share when it comes to NO.
Thanks guys.
Hence why the only comment I've made on these threads is about pizza! :)
Hooky doesn't want to be in New Order anymore - doesn't mean that I won't go and see Freebass/Monaco/DJ sets (as usual)...
Barney & Steve want to carry on either as New Order, or something else (perhaps releasing solo albums?) - I'll still keep buying them and, if they play live, I'll go and see 'em too...
And I'll keep buying whatever releases Warners keep throwing our way (Control, Joy Division remasters, New Order remasters - got to happen someday?, boxsets, live albums, etc)!!
And there'll still be Re:Order, Joy Revision, etc nights to meet up with the regulars here, as well as groups that we all like besides New Order (Kraftwerk, Chemical Brothers, Summercase!!, etc)! ![]()
Same as 808 State (minus Gerald/Martin Price), The Orb (minus Thrash/Andy Hughes), Orbital (now split - Paul Hartnoll/Long Range/Phil Hartnoll DJ sets), etc...
But I still think that Pizza Express is better than Pizza Hut! :p ![]()
In light of recent events, might I suggest a topical game of Mike Reid's Run Arahnd at Corby.
On one side of the dance floor we have a picture of Hooky, on an other a picture of the Other Two (by which I mean Barney and Steve), and one with a picture of this smiley ![]()
Then, when Shug shouts Runaround we all scramble about the place until we find our corner.
Then...
Er
I would like to know why the discussion of "why? and "whose blame is it?" is so important. I think it's not, it's just the spare time of a lack of life. So, GET A LIFE and go for sonmething useful.
with hookys children getting really defensive about things being said about their dad(and rightly so) because we don't know the real facts, why doesn't hooky tell everyone what has gone on,properly?
Here's a question: when you submit a blog on Myspace, can you not delete it, edit or retract it? Is that not an option?
How many of us here have submitted stuff in the heat of the moment (or, usually, when drunk) but then later edited its contents just to tone down our harsh words?! ![]()

The hasty edits, deletions plus possible apologies the next day are the worst bits.
I think this whole split episode has got to be the most divisive topic argued on here for a while. It's addictive yet depressing at the same time; much like Eastenders ![]()
Drunken posting? Takes me back so it does.
Though with dickhead here, I usually leave it as it is. Sometimes it can take me a few days to try and work out what the fuck I was on about though.....
