Thoughts and prayers with the family and friends.
R.I.P Tony ![]()
It's a very sad time.He was responsible for some of the best bands the world ever heard. A chancer & a legend.
Is there an online condolence book?
Even tho' I'm choked to fook,a friend just sent me this & it's very funny...typical Tony.No insult to our southern friends intended.Enjoy...
"In the North of England,it rains & it rains & it rains.Yet we still produced The Industrial Revolution,The Trade Union Movement,The Communist Manifesto, split the atom & even invented the computer. In the South of England, where the sun never sets, you took all our money & what did you produce? Chas & fucking Dave!!!"
Now that should be a T-shirt

I'm crying again as I type this. What a c*nt!
I was in London when I heard last night and none of the southern gobshites I was with could understand why I was so devastated.
I bumped into him at the New Order LCC gig in 2002 whilst wearing my promo only 24hr PP t-shirt, the one with Coogan and the word "TWAT" underneath. He said "where did you get that fucking t-shirt?". I will admit to crapping myself (not literally) until he said "because I'm going to America next week to promote the film and I want to wear it". He sent me his business card by mobile with his home phone number, email, etc. And you know what the coolest thing was? It came onto my phone with the factory logo. And you know what the uncoolest thing was? I got so hammered that when New Order came on witn Love Vig I jumped around so much I lost my phone for ever.......
YOu know you've been badly affected by this when you're prepared to listen to even Richard Madely's remeniscences on Mr Wilson without cynicism. Just gutting. If all the world had Tony's optimism in this life this would surely be better place.
the other nuts from saddle creek say, fare thee well with all their drunk and high hearts
thanks for all the great music and JD especially![]()

And none of us Southern Gobshites can understand why you Norvern Cunts refused to pay his medical bills. ![]()
Let's not turn this into a North/South divide, shall we?
Rest in peace, Tony.
Without wishing to sound maudlin, maybe Barney, Hooky and Steve could now bury the hatchet? Life is too short to be at loggerheads.
Walk...in silence.
Gretton, Hannett, Curtis and now Wilson...all gone. Thankfully, the music never dies.
A message to Hook, Sumner and Morris...sort out your differences and keep the music playing. We need to hear it now more than ever.

As a Southerner I'd just like to thank you for cheering me right up when I needed it
as in fact, NO always did and still do.
Fair play to you ;)
Alex
Thanks Tony for the soundtrack to my life and experiences I'll never forget or repeat.
Futurama 4, Festival of the Tenth Summer, RFH, Malvern Winter Gardens .....
Michael
:(
Sorely missed. I be damned if they don't honor Control to his memory. He never get to see it released.
Tony Wilson...thanks for everything you have created...![]()
You will always be alive in our hearts...We grew up listening the bands you have promoted...
Rest In Peace wherever you are...I hope you have found Ian, Martin and Rob and ...now, are the four together, chatting like in the old days and drinking...![]()

Glad you knew what I meant! It wasn't a comment aimed at all Southerners Al, I know plenty of Northern gobshites too!
And I've not been called a "poster" on here before, bit formal for NOOL?!
Not really unexpected, but shocking nonetheless. It's sad to see him go, the man was a legend.
I've just found another news here: John Cooper Clarke joins tributes to Tony Wilson
