It’s a good job we arranged to meet in Rain Bar, as it was quite a turn out. Present - forgive me if I’ve forgotten anybody:

Me, Canadia, Leggy D, Rocket Mick, Wino and daughter Jess, Jert, Al Jarvis, Big Clive/ATR, Norbert, 2 of the German Order, Andrew Sawyer + 2, Natalie T and husband Troy (over from North Carralaarner), PHD, Biginoil, Hibster, Darren (Gab’s Wish), Janette, Monty, Bansheeman, Minx, Greg*, Ted Baker + 2, Tim, Geno, Hacienda Niel, Julie, Rosie and friend and Carlos (BWFC buddy to me and Nobby).

Before meeting in Rainbar, the lads went to the Temple Bar, where they bumped into Guy Garvey (Elbow). Al has a picture of him sporting a Vikings Badge :thumb:

German Order must have been impressed as there was an Oktoberfest theme in Rain Bar, complete with Bavarian Ooompah band. Nobby got into the spirit of things and got up dancing on his own. Me and Monty joined in later and Canadia ended up on the trombone.

The Ritz was heaving, a good turn out for the band. I was at the upstairs bar with Rocket and Andrew, when they launched into This is Home (my favourite BL so far). I thrust a tenner into Rocket’s hands and rushed to the balcony to watch. Went back to the bar and Rocket gave me my money back and a brandy – result!!!

* Greg sent somebody a text at 6pm saying he was thinking of coming, next thing we know he’s bopping at the side of us in the Ritz – every credit!

It was nice to see Jack Hook at the gig. I went over and introduced Canadia to him (which he won’t thank me for – she didn’t come up for air)!!

We then went down Oxford Road to try to get in the Aftershow party but it had sold out – bummer. We did get to meet Mani though, he was outside having a smoke and posed for pictures with us all – good lad!

Had a brilliant night, it was almost like being at a New Order gig. I can’t wait for Paris – bring it on!

Great gig- crowd quiet until second half - apart from those of us at the front where chaos ensued. BL songs were pretty good live - Jake was a good addition and there was some friendly avuncular banter from Bernard. Twist of fate and this is home were excellent. Obviously most people were there for the NO + related stuff and this didn't disappoint. Out of control and tighten up were my personal highlights - tighten up was brilliant. Apologies for not meeting many - but did get to meet the Darlo order at the front. There was a couple at the front who kept asking people to calm down as there was too much jumping!!

Very enjoyable stuff.

I had a fab time. Though the BL stuff was very good, a big thanks( sorry I can't remember your name ) to whoever posted the link for the tracks download. I have been listening to them on repeat for a few weeks now. Just as well cos I only received the boxset on Wednesday!!

Obviously the gig got better as the songs interested the crowd more. Sorry I didn't say hello to anyone I was near the back with my hubby who wasn't drinking unlike moi!

Did anyone catch the face on the guy on the balcony, on the right, about 2nd/3rd in from the stage. He had a right gob on...wasn't any of you was it?!

I had a strange night, I went to the gig with a guy I met in las vegas a couple of months back. We went to the party and couldn't get in. All of a sudden Mani turns up and started talking to my mate, next thing we were in! Turns out Mani went to my mates wedding about 10 years ago as a friend of a friend! It was a good session, got to meet Jake and Phil, Mani, Tim Burgess who had some strange glasses on. Left about 2ish no sign of Barney or Steve though? Got some photos of Jake and Phil as well!

I Don't recall it.Al mentioned they had dropped it.We both thought the BL set was "a bit shit" but eventually the old stuff made amends.Had to spend some time down front picking Rosie up off the floor.Behave NORBERT! Perfect Kiss was good...not on setlist though.I just sang it to myself on the lonely train ride home.

..and I was hanging on to you so you didn't go arse over tit. Where was Shed when we needed him?

Started off in Rain with a severed hand and leather shorts. Canadia, on personal-best form all night, blew a little tuba and Norby danced around like an um-pah hero. More of him later. Hib’s jokes are shit and Geno is such a lovely guy that I almost felt bad about beating him up and stealing his t-shirt. It is a nice shirt though. The Ritz was packed when we arrived. Watched the first couple of tracks from the balcony and was immediately impressed by Barney’s singing. He put in more effort last night than I’ve seen from him in a long time, he really seemed to care that he was in key and that the words were right and the results were fabulous. It brought back great memories to see him putting his heart into it. He really has got a great singing voice, but so often doesn’t use it. Steve’s real drum kit was also a joy, wobbling around to his pistolcrack delivery. You can’t really appreciate a drummer’s skill when he’s playing though a machine, last night we got to appreciate just how good Steve is. The star of the show for me was Jake, who handled his big fucking rockstar guitar like a big fucking rockstar and sings like an angel. The balcony was the only place to properly appreciate Norbert’s excellent dancing, but me and Jim headed downstairs to where the rest of our lot were standing. The banter was excellent and everyone seemed happy with the performance. The BL tracks went in well and the New Order tracks were great, with the notable exception of the toe-curling acoustic BLT. Give it a rest, eh lads? Crystal sounded great, and the bass player got some really high notes out of his 4 string bass for the Hooky-alike solo. Overall, the sequenced parts were supportive of the live performance rather than dominating. Out of Control/Temptation was a triumph; Barney’s guitar bits made me go a bit weak at the knees. Canadia spilled my pint and kissed boys and then it was time to go. We met Andy Rob on the way out, it’s always a nice touch that he comes to say hello. The afterparty was good and most of the band showed up. I said hello to Phil and had a nice chat with Jake, who is such a nice bloke that I think I am on the brink of fancying him. Roger Lyons graciously ignored my initial fan-boy squeak of ‘I’m a big fan’ and chatted away. Everyone seemed really appreciative of the praise I was drunkenly heaping onto them and they were all asking whether we will make it to Hamburg on the 4th Dec. On the strength of last night’s performance I’m certainly going to try. It was good to see everyone on such good form and I really enjoyed the gig. It was a great night, but a very long one and I am ashamed to say that I fell out of the door without saying cheerio to anyone. Sorry about that. I was four hours late for work this morning and I feel absolutely terrible. Got some great pics and a good video of Norbert dancing. Will post them somewhere later. :dead:
