I'll admit that Hooky probably can sing lower pitched than Bernard (such as the cover of You Should Be Dancing), but that doesn't mean Bernard can't sing JD, IMO.

Hooky and the band have done an amazing job. I went to Melbourne and Sydney. Sydney was fucking brilliant(mostly thanks to a great crowd which also helps the band kick in). Just listening to the show now. Sydney crowd had the gift of Warsaw and Failures. If you don't have tickets for Adelaide and Perth I suggest you go and get one whilst you can!

Try and do a Toronto date if there is a possibility of more North American shows. The last time anything other than the DJ gigs came through was Monaco in '97. Hell we never even got post '98 New Order, last time Toronto had them was '93.

Listened to them all now. Fuck the whingers, fuck the naysayers, fuck the pissy bastards moaning about something thats fuck all to do with them, in my opinion (only) the lad with the bass sounds amazing and looks cool as fuck. Someone stick it on a DVD and I'll give you money for it, because thats how it works.
I really enjoyed that night & def thinks Hooky's voice (...shall we call it late-70s/early 80s style?) suited JD vocals more than Barney's mid-80s style of vocals.
I did wished Hooky played his guitar a bit more though & also wishing Jack look a lil bit less lifeless...
Sound was loud, clear & crisp, totally the ultimate JD-wank...unfortunately whats bugging me throughout the night was...I kno I'm gonna get canned for asking this.... :\ohwell:

Well being the fact that I recorded it on 24 track, I can assure you it was all live. Keyboard player was triggering the samples (eg Insight, New dawn fades, Glass etc) along with all the keyboard parts. Was the ultimate tribute to Joy Division and far from being a wank!

They did Ceremony last night in the encore, I couldn't get to Adelaide thanks to the fucking Virgin Blue saga grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
Went to the Adelaide show last night and despite my earlier cynicism about the concept really enjoyed it. A great setting in a regal old theatre, the allocated seating was unusual but since I was front row I didn't mind much and in any case people were up and dancing by the end. Was unsure how many locals would turn out but it was packed.
The video clip introduction served to (a) up the levels of anticipation (b) place the 'tribute' in some kind of context and (c) make me truly wish it was New Order about to come on stage. Oh well not this time... The amusing thing about this montage of clips is that pretty much everyone except from Hooky has been edited out of the speaking parts which may or may not be fair enough given this is Hooky's baby. But the only bit where you hear Barney's voice is that bit where he totally murders Run Wild at Hyde Park with some cringeworthy on-the-spot lyrical improv - ouch!
Anyway Hooky and band did a superb job I thought. Yeah, I would have liked to hear Hooky play bass more but as somebody already mentioned his deeper voice really suits these songs - better than Barney IMO. The setlist was the same as posted elsewhere but just as everyone started to up and leave they came back on and played a blistering Ceremony. The place went ballistic. An epic way to end a great night.
Inspired by Ryan I got the setlist, met Hooky and band around the back of the venue, got some pics and my LWTUA 7" signed by the great man. Pretty much a perfect night - and somewhat of a pleasant surprise. Stoked that they came to my little home town :)

By the way, admit it Ryan. You were caught out with 'Shes Lost Control' werent you? You thought Hooky was going to do the bass bit at the beginining and had to pan left reet quickly when he didnt! Still great Ryan, still great.
We should have got Hooky to sing "World in Motion" at the AFL grand final replay on Saturday instead of fucking Lionel Ritchie for fucks sake!

I read the first line then fucked it off. Any review which begins by putting Peter Hook and Joy Division in the same category as the New Romantics, in any context, is not worth reading.
Dave O'Neil is a(n alleged) comedian, certainly not a music journo - the closest he's come is as a semi regular panelist on Spicks & Specks, the Oz ripoff of Buzzcocks. But to say The Church are making a comeback after having never actually gone away and releasing some of their best work in the last decade shows the depth of this guy's musical knowledge
