Its nothing I havent said ad nauseam over the last year.

No matter how embarrasing Hooky becomes, Its unlikely he'll do anything as bad as Primal Scream were and are. Whilst Monaco at the Ritz is the worst gig I've ever seen, the time I saw Primal Scream isnt far behind. Dreadful, simply dreadful.

Its not like Mani hasnt joined in Hookys nostalgia fest over the last few years. What with his residency at the neo Hacienda, his apparent willingness to drop a soundbite about the good old days anytime someone offers him a few quid, his playing of Stone Roses riffs during Primal Scream gigs, playing Stone Roses songs with Brown, his never ending DJ gigs charing £20 a pop to nostalgia mugs etc.

But, he does have a point though.

By the way, somebody told me on Thursday night that what I say and what I have said, well, no one agrees with. Obviously, thats a lie. But when a member of a band that Hooky is in comes out and says what I've said, bloody hell... thats vindication

If the account was hacked---then the hacker has done a great job imitating Mani's tweets. And reading this thread, and some of the info, I'm having doubts that it was hacked.

Yes, he's going to be doing that Screamadelica tour, but Primal Scream is an ongoing band that has released albums every few/several years---their latest in 2008 and they toured that one well into 2009. So while he may be in the past to some extent, he's still looking forwards to some extent as well.　(That doesn't make him better or worse than Hooky, but just to clarify.)

That said, in this day and age with technology, words spread very fast don't they?

It is with great sadness that just prior to the long awaited album release of “It’s A Beautiful Life” we have to announce that the much anticipated Mancunian union of bassists, Freebass, is no longer a functioning group.

Recent events have made Freebass entirely unviable as a band, and with this in mind, it has been decided that the project should be shelved, rather than placed on hiatus while members pursue their other interests.

The band would like to take the opportunity to thanks friends and fans for their support and interest, especially on the UK tour in June 2010. We also hope that people will enjoy the album, which concludes five years of work and treat it on its own merits.

No third parties were involved or harmed in the break up.

Not hacked. That is Mani.

Rourke left Freebass a while back because he couldn't put up with Hooky so it's not been a happy camp for a while.

Most high profile musicians don't run with multiple projects simultaneously - if they're in more than one band they focus on one at a time so there's no diary clashes and all their promotional work is focussed on the band with a release out at that time. Hooky's pissed all over this golden rule and shown why it exists - by putting the UP gig out there when he should have just been thinking about Freebass. Hooky's now received tour offers from promoters who like the look of UP, which he's decided to accept, leaving no time for Freebass activity. Where does that leave Briggs and Mani? who've made sacrifices to devote time to this project?. Has Hooky consulted with them as and when he's looked at touring UP? If not, it leaves them looking like 2nd class citizens.

My thoughts changed that I can believe it's Mani, after reading those tweets and this thread.

Mani sounds like he's got the right 'ump doesn't he? If Hooky's guilty of anything it's listening to bad advice and mis-judging the mood of what now appears to be the majority of his fan base. There's a couple of people who seem to have his ear (one whom has made quite snotty posts on here when anyone's dared question the dodgy 'revival' nights he's promoting) and who seem intent on exploiting the brand potential of the Hacienda/Factory. If these boards are anything to go by then that's not really what the majority of people to whom the brand meant something actually want. Bad judgement.

It doesn't warrant some of Mani's comments, especially the ones where he mocks Hooky's bass playing abilities. That's playground shit. But a lot of what he said rings true I'm sad to say.

Not to worry kids, at least we've still got the joyous AOR of 'Dad' Lieutenant (see what I did there?)

Such a shame that AMEX missed out. Wonder if Hooky is still taking the masterclass?

I have to say that whilst the album isnt the best thing ever the music really gained a lot of oomphh when i saw them live in mcr . also it was good to see hooky still creating something new.

Reminds me of the reaction he had in some interview, where they'd just told him about Hookys bass from the hac wood. He had a pleasant chuckle, and I'm sure he's having another.
