'brand new never released new order track' WHAAAAAATT? If this is true I can only imagine it's a Sirens out-take, there can't be anything else in the vaults can there? I remember Barney telling a journo the Sirens burst of creativity was rare as they normally just did enuff trax to fill the albumm then pissed off home. 8/9, no less. Thanks for posting this, I'm intrigued...

I hope its not some crappy instrumental. I suppose it could only be from WFTSC or, at a push, Republic as the Get Ready stuff is already out there.
I also hope that this will be on iTunes because the elephant in the room is that this is yet another cash-in compilation about ten minutes since the last one. Perhaps this is how it will always be now; the final recordings drip-fed through an eternal collection of compilations, each one remastering the fuck out of the tracks until they end up an ear shattering wall of noise.
They will sound just fine, 'Singles' is acknowledged to be the very worst it'll get, and the benchmark on how-not-to-do-it.

... Sound aside, ethics aside, lack of Murder aside... Singles is probably the closest-to-definitive singles compilation around. Remember 'International'? Or 'Retro', a 4-CD comp including World not Thieves Like Us? Jeez...
Does make a nice one disc "hits" set for the uninitiated.
From an aesthetic standpoint don't really like throwing album track "isolation" in there. The well known "Dead Souls" would be a popular fit. Why not "Digital"?... it's gotten better known over time.
No "Everything's Gone Green" makes me sad.
Not a "Fine Time" hater but "Run" would be great instead.
The name "Hellbent" makes me think it might be another lame attempt to rock out as old men.
I guess as a concept it was always going to happen. We'll surely get a New Order: The Factory Years compilation (featuring a previously unreleased track) one day shortly followed by a New Order: Not The Factory Years (featuring a previously unreleased track).
Then it'll be New Order:The Complete Career Years (featuring a previously unreleased track).
Me, Im looking forward to New Order:Nice Tracks To Listen To On A Weekend (featuring previously uneleased tracks) and New Order:Some Songs That Start With The Letter T (featuring a previously unreleased track that starts with the letter T).

Really, the only market anymore is the simple digital download release or the special high priced vinyl reissue.

This compilation genuinely could have worked for me if it was a 2 disc set with a thoughtful run through of JD and NO. But I suppose this compi was inevitable.
The cover looks nice enough, reminds me of the Run2 sleeve. But the 'OT' of 'total' makes me think of the other two TBH

Tacking one new track on a compilation of songs we already all have 10 times over. Substance 1987, (the best of) NewOrder, Heart and Soul, International, Retro and Singles are still very much available in your average high street HMV so - and I hate to be blunt but - what's the fucking point?
Once again zero respect for the fans, zero thought put into making a decent and quality product fans would actually love to own. Just Regret and Crystal for the four zillionth time and Morley (probably) jacking off in the liner notes.
It's like they're having a competition with Morrissey to see who can release the most pointless Best Of CD. (New Order were in the lead but Moz has started winning lately with his recent one)
I know money makes the world go round and artists are entitled to produce Best Ofs for new fans but the barrel has been scraped so much with New Order it's fucking disintegrated.
Disappointing.

Well, an album of unreleased music/demos/etc in some format - basically all of the stuff that they left off the remasters would be nice. The odd live album wouldn't also go amiss...
I'm still waiting for True Dub to be released on CD! :p
Of course, the above will probably never happen, but you can always dream!
But, overall, for the first time in a long time, there's an actual New Order (not Joy Division!) track being released that I haven't heard...

Not another half-baked Best Of that's for sure.
To answer your question, I would personally like to see:
- The Sirens' leftovers properly mastered, mixed and released as a CD EP,
- A series of live albums along the same lines as JD's Preston / Les Baines series,
- Brand new remixes on along the same lines as what Depeche Mode have been doing,
- A compilation of truly rare, previously vinyl only remixes.
I don't see a single reason why any of those are beyond the realms of possibility. Maybe even set up a mailing list and produce the CDs in limited quantities for fans who sign up.
Adding one "new" track onto a CD of numerous other tracks we own already and then making us buy them all over again to own the "single" track is the laziest and most boring possible way of getting out new material.
They really reward us as fans, don't they?
I'm curious, as every release is greeted with negativity, about exactly what the fans would genuinely want to see released. I think I know the answer but it's good to have it aired...

Do the members of New Order no longer care what they put out? They should get a new management team who can control what gets released. Since WFTSC in 2005 its been shocking/embarrassing the shite they have released.
