Steve is quoted recently as saying that they were in 'various states of completion'.

Misconception. They were finished, but after the deadline for the album to be mastered, so there was no time to consider including them.

Very interesting. So these tracks should surface at some point? A seven track ITunes mini album maybe?

With this much publicity they'd probably sell better than Total!

Have the CD/T-shirt versions been released yet?

Nothing as yet through the post.

Great minds hear alike.

And Morning Night & Day sounds like a Madge tune but I can't remember which?

I like it. Buy it or don't.

Thanks Nick. I've just recently gone for Movement & PCL Remasters direct from Rhino and they were despatched from Germany. They usually take a couple of weeks. Hope this isn't the case with this lot..

Yup, likewise - managed to grab the promo for a tenner, and yup, Hellbent is actually growing on me. I'd have like there to be more of Hooky's bass, however... :)

The Rhino CD/t-shirt package arrived this morning - from Germany - I'm glad that they send these things quickly...

What? You mean they send items quicker from Germany to the UK, than Germany to Germany??

Blimey!

Definitely not listening for hours :) just used to the versions and recognised most of the timings from previous compilations (discography geek) and the stuff in my collection. I gave the compilation at least one run through on my iPod before posting the list though just to be sure.

As Nick points out I only had a CD-R copy (no sleeve) so was only posting version information as heard for those who don't yet own 'Total' and might be wondering what's on it. From a Discogs geek point of view the rare Perfect Kiss and True Faith 7" edits are the only "new" things here. Hardly worth 9 quid but there you go, still nice to have after all this time I suppose.

My copy (and t shirt) arrived today though.

Yep and I had to pay 5.58 GBP for shipping. Tomorrow I am not here and Monday is a bank holiday. So I will get it Tuesday, I think.

The copy on Amazon US is listed as an import. Is there an actual US date for this thing?

Got my cd/t shirt yesterday, t shirt design is pretty nice but made of really thin shit material. as is the booklet in the cd case. But i can feel a wee phase of listening to New Order coming on in the next few days. Something i havent really done in a long time. P.S. Bill Turnbull or what ever he is called is an arse hole.

I got my shirt through, it's on a gildan heavy, pretty much the standard band t-shirt brand/weight. you're talking tosh! it's obviously not going to be (peter) saville row!

Finally got my CD. Enjoyed JD tracks, and Isolation, though out of logic here, feels right. Or maybe I was driving too fast on the highway.

Now when I got to Ceremony.... Why oh why, did they use this version? I know you lot cried about this obscure version but it was given a proper treatment on Singles, if anything can help that track. And then again on the 2008 reissues. The production is muddy, the rudemental echo sounds like it was recorded at Sun Records. I love the song, both in its live rendition and in the other studio version. You know, I don't care for the lyrics or melody at this point - that I've known long already, I just enjoy every second of the familiar sound - and the Joy Division/New Order sound was always polished, immaculate, impeccable in the studio. Here we get a demo-like version on a compilation CD for the masses. That also applies to Temptation to a lesser extent, for they didn't have a principally differently produced version to use; the 87 remake may be better but it would be out of context here.

I'll resume listening tomorrow when I'll get in the car: it'll start off Blue Monday! :)

I just bought the new track only at Amazon for 91 cents. I don't feel the need to buy another  compilation just for one track. It's a nice song.
