"Renegade Spezial Edit" available now... In this neck of the woods anyhow.
Don't mind this mix, of course it ends annoyingly soon.
So guess this is the edited version of "Bernard's Renegade Mix". Sounds potentially more interesting that the regular single versions, but as Depthcharge stated, it's extremely short - only 3:10, and the beat doesn't kick in until 1:52 - so looking forward to the full length version of this mix for sure!
For those without spotify - it's also on the NO youtube channel

some nice breakdowns, but not sure what the point of releasing this edit is?
Just give us the damn 12" already!

Yes and no - the start and end are the same as the Adidas advert version, but not the middle part. The Adidas version is also half the length
So both these are different edits of Bernard's Renegade mix i guess
It's whetting our appetite for the 12" and CD single, which is frustratingly still 4 weeks away. Better than nothing at this point, though.
Much prefer the way this mix is headed over the original one. The instrumentation on the original mix is a bit safe and I found it dropped off my daily playlist alarmingly quickly despite liking the vocal line, which I think (credit to Bernard) is the best element of the song hands down.
Really looking forward to hearing Steve's remix and Reeder's too.

Well of course I would expect it to be edited differently to the advert. I meant the mix.

What CD single? I know press releases/articles mentioned there'd be one, but I wasn't aware one had been formally announced yet?

Yes, there is nothing available for pre-order but I'm simply going on the band's the official web site.
The single is available digitally now and will be followed by 12”, CD and a digital bundle, featuring remixes.
Be a shame if that is not happening now, but we'll have to wait and see.
I imagine if it does happen it will be like the Music Complete era CD singles I.e. 5 or 6 tracks encompassing everything.
Thanks for the embedded youtube, -1.
I may be the only one but c.30 seconds in, this synth bass reminds me a bit of WIM (Subbuteo) Remix.
I like it. 👍

I'm sure it'll happen. I can't see them backing down now.

The CD singles from the Japanese box had more tracks than the UK issues. Restless added the Agoria Dub. Tutti Frutti added the Tom Rowlands Remix (which was added to the UK Singularity disc) and the Tokkyu Shino Remix. Singularity added the JS Zeiter Remix Instrumental.
People on the High Line was released after the box, but I'm not aware of a Japanese issue of that single.
Of course there will be a CD single - this is Mute.
The 12" initially offered up is billed as limited edition on grey vinyl. I'm sure there will be a standard black 12", a CD single, and a bundle of both with possibly something else like a t-shirt available as we get closer to the official November release date. Since this is one-off single - not tied to an album campaign (i.e. several singles to spread things out) - I would imagine all the mixes are available on the CD. It's not even a particularly dancey song, so how many remixes can there be?

What about the Takkyu Ishino remix? ![]()

I regret my error.
Not sure why I messed that up so badly. I have the Japanese box and the 12" with that mix (the last record, barring what's in the Definitive boxes, that I will ever buy).
What a sneaky little track 'Be A Rebel' is.
It's been out for over a month, sounded like a demo when I first heard it and left me indifferent (see my previous post in this thread)... Yet... The bugger has been creeping up on me in the last week or so. I think I actually like it now. Most songs by any artist take no more than three or four listens until i really decide if I like them or not, but there's suddenly something about this after many listens with no reaction. I think the edit of Bernard's remix teases a more sophisticated version that may well be the best version, but I'm now enjoying its positive lyrics and string sounds that reminds me a little bit of 'Regret' - particularly in my favourite few seconds of the song at the "there will come a day" start of the second verse.. In fact, I think the song is evocative of 'Republic', but in a nice, sunny 1993 way.
By no means anywhere near their best song, but I've definitely warmed to it. Looking forward to the twelve inch next month. Definitely a very slow burner.
Still really liking it, maybe even more so.The synths that come in at around 10 seconds on the edit and around 14 seconds on the full are classic NO, up there with their finest moments on record.I'm serious, they really stir the feels as the kids say or might say these days.Bernard's lyrics , despite seeming maybe a bit naff at first, are great and i like his vocal on Be A Rebel.Yeah, some of the sounds elsewhere on the song are a little generic and unimaginative but the upbeat feel and vibe to the song wins you over that.

No, it's fine but they've done far better than this. Play PCL, Technique and then this. Actually, don't. When it was included in that recent Top 10, there was derision all round. I think people are just inclined to be generous cos we're happy to get anything and apparently there's this virusy thing going around. Perfectly up to standard, but the opening of Ceremony still sends shivers down the spine. Imagine Be A Rebel in 2060....

HUH? Yeah, they're normally growers, but I haven't heard it enough yet. There's something off about downloading instead of proper CDs. 'There will come a day' is also on the Spice Girls' Goodbye single.
Oxbridge isn't on Googlemaps. I learnt that. I quoted the bit about one of their finest moments and then my post. Clearly the quote function is like my mother.

Originally when I pre-ordered my copy on the Mute website on the first day, the Limited Edition Dove Grey 12" were noted "Limited Edition of 5000 worldwide". This mention of "5000 worldwide" has disappeared since ! 😕
I think Paul McCartney's new album will be a limited edition of 65328643808655327654789996422162837994270 copies. I remember the Spooky 12" was advertised as 'strictly limited, available for one week only'. I wasn't convinced but it probably helped sales. What a trainspotter I was. And you lot still are, but that's fine. Some people molest gorillas.

Amazon still says it Limited Edition
