anything by whatever the latest teen-latin-hip-hop pop crossover is at any given moment. Was the UK subject to the horrible time period between 98 and 2000 where we had to put up with all that Ricky Martin crap? Is he still around? I swear I saw him driving a Dodge Aries the other day. Moving on...

Creed - anything "With arms wide opennnnn" Makes me want to shove rusty nails into my skull.

Tantric - anything. I haven't complained about Barneys singing since I've heard these guys.

Larger than Life - by whoever it's by (Nsync maybe?)

Staind - it's been awhile, and whatever other song they have, he just sounds so damn whiny. Someone should go kick that guys ass, and tell him to take whatever it is that's making him so miserable like a man.

Girl at the Rock show - Blink 182

any "Thug" music of any kind. Ever.

Underground Lovers were a half decent band, big guy.

The Southern Sons was the name you were looking for.. Execrable.

:\pimp2:

No they weren't. And even if they were, they are not now, as their support slot at the Metro to our heroes demonstrated. You can't be Ride and the Pet Shop Boys at the same time, you pretentious tossers.

As for Southern Sons, good call. But were they as bad as 1927? or Wa Wa Nee? The Eurogliders? Zoot? The list (and my heart) will go on.... CTB

I have to say that I liked Wa Wa Nee .. Should I be embarrassed about this ? Were Wa Wa Nee big in the UK ? I think they're biggest hit was a song called Stimulation ...

Sebsy is that list compiled from your own record collection? I mean who else (other than someone who bought it) is gonna remember 'Technohead - I wanna be a hippy' artist and title :skeptic: come on own up I'm very superstitious... I mean suspicious

Thanks for reminding me about the Technohead - I wanna be a hippy song ... I think thats my most hated song of all time.

Remember that song by Foreigner 'I want to know what love is'? It seemed to be at No.1 for aeons sometime in the early 80's (1984??)....I absolutely despised it. When it used to come onto Top of the Pops I used to throw a proper Bonnie Langford style tantrum, beating the floor with my fists

I don't think any other record as had the same kind of response since, however awful......I saw it on some sort of nostalgia TV show a while back and had to run out the room

I've always hated American Pie... and that guy from Roxy Music (what's his name?) he has a voice weaker than Barney's pie refusing will power...

Two more, hated all the more for their apparent requirement to be played every single day on AOR radio in the U.S.:

Billy Joel - Piano Man Eddie Money - Baby Hold On To Me

That second one goes in the "Lyric cliche" thread, too.

Baby hold on to meWhatever will be will beThe future is ours to seeI've been stung by a beeMy cat got stuck in a treeI've got water on the kneeMy favorite cheese is brieNelson Mandela's free

Mumble without melody repeatedly over no chord changes until dead.

Oh yeah:

Air Supply - You're Every Woman in the World to Me

So much to hate.

Dont worry Hank I don't own the atrocity. I was just obsessed by how bad it was when I was at uni and had time to listen to the radio etc. I think it was probably on the same edition of TOTP as Babylon Zoo and I rememeber me and a mate chucking anything we could find at the TV for the duration of both tracks.

I'm surprised that The Corrs haven't been mentioned yet but perhaps that's because their music doesn't stand out in the memory because it's so bland. I'd list some of their songs but I can't really remember them apart from the one that was used on an advert for a bank and "Breathless" (surely you remember that one - it goes "Go on, go on, leave me breathless", to which any person with taste would reply "Okay, I will, as soon as I've found a piece of rope").

I recall the one were the extemely lovely Andrea says "What can I do to make you love me?" The epitome of a rhetorical question.

It isn't a rhetorical question. It's just a question the answer to which begins with "You could start by promising never to sing again"

Can't say that I hate that Vera Lynn song all that much, but then the only context that I know it from is from the movie Dr. Strangelove.

What do I hate?

Shiny Happy People by R.E.M.

Any song by Ja Rule

Any song by The Eagles

Grease soundtrack

Actually, most of the Hot 100 is complete drivel, but I try me best to forget about most of them ASAP, hence I can't recall every single bad song out there, as there are way too many. These are four things that I automatically tune out whenever they come up.

Well, someone mentioned Spitting Image above there but as a rule nearly ALL comedy records make me wanna pull my teeth out - especially those dreadfully unfunny ones for say Comic Relief - HALE AND PACE, YOUNG ONES & CLIFF RICHARD, WESTLIFE DOING BILLY OCEAN, etc etc...there's just too many of these wretched things to list.... plus abominations like STAR TREKKIN' that really should never have even left the editing suite....

Here's a few more obscurer ones people tend to overlook.

DAVID BOWIE AND MICK JAGGER - Prancing In The Streets. (David was going to include this on his Tin Machine album but decided against it as he needed to scrape together enough royalties with his own wretched original songs on that album without having to pay out to someone else) HEAR 'N' AID - Stars (dreadful poodle-rock masses do their 'bit' for Africa - utter schlock!!) ENGLAND WORLD CUP SQUAD - This Time (We'll Get It Right) - (ahh, but you didn't did you? You stupid curly-permed tone-deaf tossbags? Still haven't to this day have you? Shitehawks!!) URBAN HYPE - A Trip To Trumpton - CAK!! CANDY FLIP - Strawberry Fields Forever - the ultimate PINNACLE of bandwagon-chasing (let alone jumping,if these two short-legged love-beaded trolls were anything to go by) naffness...anyone remember their debut album which sank without trace? Me neither! THE SOUP DRAGONS - I'm Free. (exceptionally talented this lot - first they pilfer the Buzzcocks, then The Wedding Present, then Baggy, then Jimi Hendrix, then Grunge....then Brit Pop and easy listening but I think people stopped caring by then....the only band of the time worse than them was THE FARM) RE-FLEX - The Politics Of Dancing. YEEEUCH!!HOLD IT RIGHT THERE!! THE EIGHTIES - YOU WANT WANKY FRETLESS BASS PLAYING ROCK SCHOOL CASUALTIES WITH MULLETS A PLENTY AND NEANDERTHAL EASTER ISLAND COMPLEXIONS?? CHEESY GOD AWFUL ELECTRONIC RHYTHMS? THOSE HORRID HEXAGONAL SIMMONS DRUM KITS? TERRIBLE INANE LYRICS ABOUT NOTHING IN PARTICULAR WELDED TO EVEN WORSE AND MORE CUMBERSOME SONG TITLES?? Then you deserve this band. Truly truly wretched shite! HAYZSI FANTAYZEE - John Wayne Is Big Leggy - and you Jeremy and Katey, are two of the skinniest most talentless and mingeing ragamuffing c***s I have ever clapped eyes on! DAISY CHAINSAW - Love Your Money - Irritatingly derivative, tenth-rate buzzsaw punk twenty years too late. Wendy James has a lot to answer for... DAN HARTMAN - Instant Replay - responsible for the entire career of Take That and their horrendous brethren... Nuff sed.. DOUG E FRESH AND THE GET FRESH CREW - The Show. (This was supposed to be the future of rap. It was their only UK hit. That figures.) SCORPIONS - Wind Of Change - it's the whilsting wot did it mama!! MODERN ROMANCE - Their whole pathetic existence. MODERN TALKING - Brother Louie - OH FUCK OFF!! BONNIE TYLER - Holding Out For An Aero [sic]- you're holding out for a flogging more like if you continue to peddle such utter over-produced cacophonous bilge like this. Not so easy trying to live down that Shakey duet was it poor luv?? so why not go the other extreme and turn all power pap on us complete with your laser pyrotechnics and billowing hair/exploding chest videos?? WANG CHUNG - Dance Hall Days - whiney crap. This band were huge in the States - wonder why? BILLY RAY CYRUS - Achy Breaky Fart. JUST DIG THAT BEAVER PADDLE KENTUCKY WATERFALL MAN!!! OCEANIC - Insanity/Controlling Me - FOOK ME!! Take some mogadon, you stupid hyperactive bitch!! KENNY LOGGINS - Footloose - the epitome of that horrid mid-80's period where everything was so stylistically and musically redundant those who survived it are worthy of a War Veteran's Medal. Like me.

okay - that's all for now, but believe me.....how much longer is this madness allowed to continue??

one addition to Hubert mentioning "una paloma blanca". If i remember correctly that one was written by a dutch band called the George Baker Selection! Years later a song by them was used in Tarantinos movie Pulp Fiction. Now there's our question for today: name that song. (mainly because i forgot the title myself :o

Hey man, lay off of my boy Billy Ray Cyrus! He was excellent in Mulholland Drive.

If you need someone to play a pool cleaner, Billy Ray is your man. Period.

To Gnu: "The Doc" is high quality TV as well. Too bad PAX is the only channel that comes in clearly for me in Akron w/o cable!

Anybody mention Bush? I nominate Glycerine for the quality "stream of conscious" lyrics

Also I seem to remember some sod called Johnny Ray who had a song called "My name is Johhny Ray". I thought he was our fault (the States) but I think he's a Brit

That's just the way it is baby- the rembrandts (i'll be there for you is vapid but at least catchy)

anything ever written or performed by jewel (someone get her another van so she can go away and leave us in peace)

one of us by joan osbourne (I was shocked to learn this song was written by a former hooter, the band not a well endowed waitress but might as well been)

aerosmith and any song of theirs with a "witty" double entendre or their stunning and hard hitting take on domestic violence "jamie's got a gun"

any travesty by p.diddy, who's lauded for his ability to totally rip off song riffs and write lyrics by changing three words of the original songs. He is the M.C. Hammer of the new millenium!

I'll be back!!

Was flicking channels last night and came across the video clip for 'Stop your fussin' by Toni Childs ... That girls voice really gets to me ....

Anything by By Jovi - especially Shagging on a Chair...

How about "Wannabe" by the Spice Girls? I'll tell you what I want, what I really really want...I want to go back in time and destroy the master tape of this "song" that sounds like it was written and performed by hyperactive overgrown children.
