I hope you're not facing the travel alone and you'll have some rest after the concert in a hotel before leaving... I wouldn't worry, if you already entered Slovenia and Italy showing your ID nothing should have changed and the Pixies incident should remain isolated... did you ask why they wanted to see the ticket? Anyway I'm just of the opinion that you just met curious border officers, there shouldn't be a problem, but if you're still worried just ask at a travel agency or a police station... At the moment the only planned meeting is my proposal: 20.30 on the right of the stage. Should anyone arrive late (including myself) let's say we'll do our best to come back to the meeting point every 15 minutes until 808 State begin. Anyway we should be in a typical Vikings position, which is, if I'm not wrong, a few rows back from the front of the stage (4 or 5 rows?) on the side of Hooky, that's where you'll find the most of us, even during the gig... BTW I just realised that they're playing the same day of Live 8, this is not a good thing since that event is taking place in Italy as well... These are extremely hot days, though bad weather is said to come for the weekend, anyway I wouldn't be surprised if there was just a small audience, I hope the band won't be too disappointed. It would have been better for them to play at a proper festival with other bands bringing fans who might like them, like Pixies last year when they supported The Cure. The most of the people were there for The Cure, but the most of The Cure fans loved the Pixies so there was a huge audience with a great response to the Pixies. 808 State will bring 100 people at most, just the DJs who know them... It's all on New Order's shoulders, I hope that the fact it's a free event and they're the former Joy Division will help...

Unfortunately, appears that I'll have to travel alone, but I'll bring my books along and do some studying on the train, and I have no problem with sleeping on trains (I really like trains, as a matter of fact). I'm not worried about the trip to Turin, but according to my timetables I'll have to book a night in hotel on my way back in Venice. It's OK, I'm actually glad that I'll have enough time to sightsee both Turin and Venice. Do let me know if there's any sort of a meeting in the city in the afternoon before the concert. Is there any chance of the gig being, well, not sold out, because there are no tickets on sale, but, say filled up ? It might be a good thing that Live8 is on the same day-it'll keep neutrals off, only true fans will be in Turin I guess.

Welcome to another installment of Jul's guide to Turin. Arrived yesterday evening, my train shoud have been 3 hours late but the earlier Venezia-Torino train was so late that I'd caught that one instead, so I was just half an hour late, but that actually means that I'd oficially left Venice before I'd arrived, so I'd created a time-space paradox and the universe will explode. Had minor problems at the border, was checked out by the border guard (who didn't speak englisk but spoke a universal language of most of the countries of the former country) and had to tell how much money (KOLKO PARA ?) I've got and how long I'm staying. Found out that I still speak basic Italian from my shopping in Trieste days. There doesn't seem to be much info and/ or intrest about the festival, noone at the hotel I'm staying at could tell me anything about it (but they coldn' tell me where a money exchange office is either), fortunately I have MTV Italia in my room and they did briefly announce it in the news (a snippet after whole news on Live8). Also showed some footage of a woman playing yesterday, the place seemed to be packed, so I'll try to arrive around 18.30 or 19 at the latest. The only New Order t-shirt I've seen thus far is mine. And the internet at the railway station is crap (but you do get to listen to wonderful oriental music. No, now someone in another booth is playin some rather pretty classical stuff), you can't open more than one window at a time ?! And can only pay for an hour or half an hour. Off to sightsee now.

Julijana, the very same thing happened to me at the Heathrow Airport, if you skip "koliko para" part, of course, but they did ask me that actually. :D Routine thing, I guess. There were 2 queues there actually. One for the UK and EU countries and the other one for the rest of the world, haha! Anyways, enjoy Italy and have a great time at the gig!

Reminds me how stupid I can be sometimes. When I left for Chicago and New York, I went through the US customs (which are located in the Montreal airport) and when I was asked where I would stay while in Chicago and New York, I looked pretty stupid because I didn't have Kamar's girlfriend address and neither Frank Smarra's address...
Kind of look suspicious when you are going to visit the US and stay at some place you don't even know the name of the person there, or the address...

Back in England after not much sleep - after the festival, went down to see Tony Wilson, Shaun Ryder and Hooky do DJ sets at the Giancarlo club... Got back to the hotel between 4:30am and 5:00am... :)
When Barney announced Everythings Gone Green I didnt believe what Ive just heard. It really made the evening special (and also the inclusion of my favourite Your Silent Face) although it was near to be ruined be some idiots who moshed all the time. Is this, like, traditional in Italy to jump around and push other people? Guess next time I'll head somewhere else to catch a NO show.
Still, it was great. Also I catched a smile from Stephen when they drove by us after the show.
But: only one song from Get Ready? only two songs from Sirens Call?
I know most people wont agree with me, but I really would've appreciated to hear some diversions instead of playing all the classics (which is good too, its just that I loved the last two records).

Er, I think the moshers were probably the German Order and some of our English contingent!
I suggest you head over to the US to perhaps catch New Order live then, cos they don't 'mosh' over there for the band. Just a thought. Still, you're only 21 so lots to learn yet about New Order, eh?
Absolutely fcuking brilliant night last night. EGG was the icing on a superb show. Good to see everyone again, and to meet some new people (notably Mr & Mrs Milky and Mr & Mrs Southampton Order) and thought the band were just about the best I've seen them this year. Just a bit fuct off that my legs have been shredded by the local mozzies! Still, they do like a bit of sweet meat!
Funny how your Europeans love their Joy Division too, but still ain't clued up on New Order. LWTUA grew the biggest chant/mosh of the night, then Temptation stopped 'em dead in their tracks straight after. Most bizarre. Good also to see Mr Wilson introduce the band too. And talk utter bollocks in doing so.

It was me ! I was in the second row, and actually dissapointed by too little jumping. I was actualy training at young punk gigs for this. But I was right in front of Bernard, that made up for it. I was very dissapointed noone from NOOL contacted me, I've said I'll be wearing the t-shirt, but instead I met Andrea, Luca, Maco, the girls, also several people whose names I've forgotten, and I hung out with them and we were soon best friends, of course Andrea is from Milan and I went to the same gaculty with Zvone Boban, so we soon found a common ground. By 20.30 we were having such a good time that I didn't want to leave them and go to the NOOL meeting place. Fantastic gig. I'll post more when I return to Zagreb, now I've ended up in Venice overnight by a mixup on trenitalia, so I have to find a hotel. Can anyone recomend any ? Did I miss anything special ? Meetup with the band, drinking the night away with Hooky ? I've got some pictures, I'll develop them and scan them and send to someone to post them here, I'm not too god at it, it'll probabltùy be on tuesday.

last NO show i went to was in California for Area 1, and this gig was 10 times better. Barney was rather chipper, and the whole band were in high spirits. barney and hooky joked about who was supposed to start LWTUA. they sounded great, and i think that plil adds a lot to the band (much more than billy corgan did).
i noticed a little moshing, but it was nothing huge. in general, the crowd was dead, and only showed a little life during the JD songs.
i was happy to hear remixes of true faith (pefecto i think) and blue monday (cant get you out of my head). EGG was funktastic. when barney announced it, he said that he forgot how to play it because it had been so long since he played it.
btw, 808 sounded better than i expected, but no spanish heart as i hoped. no liverpool flag so i didnt see anyone from the website, but i met some guys from poland and we had a great time. wonderful show.

Trash dancing (as it's called here) is usually for heavy metal & related bands ;)
I remember doing it in clubs all over Nirvana and Metallica... but you get bored of bumping into people after a while... ;)

Hi mates, just a short post while I'm still on holiday. More to come later. I'm glad I have met everyone, inlcuding Al Jarvis so I can place the 2005 badge next to the Vikings 2002 at the next gig, and the legendary Alex Staszko who brought two Gabrielles Wish bootlegs making me happy like going home for Christmas. ;)

Great show, of course also because of EGG. Enjoyed 808 State a lot too, and so the audience, good given they're almost totally unknown. Nice to see that not only the Joy Division songs got a great audience response as expected, but also New Order tracks like BLT and even newer stuff like Krafty.
Many more people than the expected, the place was almost packed and the vibe was good, this triumph is a revenge on the stupid goths who were turning to Sisters Of Mercy saying New Order had sold out when they started doing electronic stuff.
Where are fooking Mission now? Eh? New Order are still a legend and those dance tracks are favourite classics.
Amazing to see many teenagers dancing as if they were at a Fatboy Slim gig. New Order fans have a new generation, people born at the time of World In Motion...
Nice aftershow with Shaun, Tony AND Hooky spinning records. Just met briefly Hooky, he was in a good mood and so was even Sarge...

Apparently it's just Barney doesn't want to play it, but I guess Hooky would be more than happy to do it, so someone convince them, it would be great if they really did that at gigs, the audience would go crazy....
