I know most people wont agree with me, but I really would've appreciated to hear some diversions instead of playing all the classics (which is good too, its just that I loved the last two records).

Not a great mosh fan meself either - I'm more into having a wee Bez like jig, or a Barney inspired run on the spot type booty shuffle. Used to mosh when seeing Metallica way back when, but not really into bouncy aggression with strangers nowadays. :crazy:

Maybe they should have a 'mosher's only' zone - they had a 'industry whores' zone at Live 8, so 'owt's possible... (although it should be a little fenced (electrified perchance?) area somewhere around the mid centre of stage - it shouldn't take over the whole of the front row as us more sedate types need space as well...)

It's easy for you to say that when all you need is your passport and money. The problem is visa, my friend. I've only got the UK Tourist Visa, valid till October (meaning I'll go back there again till October ;) ) and Italian Visa is very hard to get over here. :shrug:

Heading to America? I dont know if that would be a good idea. Too expensive, too many to organise. Torino was just 8 hours by train, and we didnt even got a hotel, we just stayed over at this beautiful park.

Well, covered most of the "moshers = idiots" topic, it was a really great concert afterall. I was so glad I did it, even though I almost fell asleep after staying the night over whilst waiting for our train. I just hope NO will be doing another tour sometime soon and perhaps come to Austria.

I have included a couple of photos from the club after where hooky and Mr Ryder were DJing. It was quite mad to see hooky dropping in LWTUA and encouraging the locals to join in with the chorus. :bow2: :bow2:

It would be okay if they would mosh around in their own area, but they dont. They keep disturbing other people. I dont understand why it is necessary to jump and push other people to have fun.

jtr, how many times have you seen New Order? At 21, I should imagine it's not many. Moshers traditionally are closest to the stage. If you're stood right up front at a New Order gig, what do you expect? Sounds like you were ruining the night for other people, rather than they ruin it for you. If you want to stand like a statue at a New Order concert then why do you bother?

I know exactly what Maya's talking about, there were three people from Serbia on the train with me, and two girls actually had to count their money in frount the carabigneri, and a man had to show all of his papers after he said he was visiting his daughter. I think I only had problems because I was traveling just with my ID. If there is any Budapest Order, please try to convince someone to get New Order for Pepsi Sziget for next album, that'll suit most of the eastern fans best, and it's also a realistic option (I've given up hope of Zagreb a long time ago). Maya, you'll get some pictures soon - pics of the band aren't very good, but some of my private ones are great. Still found great company. Will write a full review soon, together with Jul's Guide on How to Get Lost in a Foregin Country (but I did get asked out by a friendly waiter in Venice).

I'd like to agree with that. I made it to the second row (I think I'd beaten up a metrosexual and several real men in the process), and in front of me there were two blokes, Italian, quite tough, and they were just standing still there and talking ! I couldn' push through them, and every now and then they were making weird bottom movenents to get the crowd (predominately me) off their backs. I've made a four-day trip alone, rode on the train for 13 hours and got stuck in Venice on the way back (but I'm not sorry, it's beautiful), so if you're not a real fan just don't go to the front row, it's as simple as that ! I don't use up space in the front at gigs where i only like a band.

Sorry for the fact that they're so bad, I went after the advice to buy disposables...good for turist pictures, but useless at a gig. But I feel I have to contribute something to the site, however useless. I've added a picture of Tony Wilson, because noone else did, and to prove I've really been stuck in Venice a picture of Plaza San Marco including a man with a pidgeon on his head.

You dont want to understand me, right? I stood up front because I wanted to actually see something (I tend to always stand up front at concerts). And I didnt stand like a statue, I danced a lot, but for myself, without bothering & disturbing other people. As I said, a New Order gig is not a punk concert and therefore moshing is, at least in my view, inappropriate. There should really be some kind of moshing-only areas.

I actually thought there was too little moshing...I had real physical preparations, I'm not joking, at the university open air I got kneed in my thigh muscle, it was a considerably painful experience, but I thought "It's all for a good cause ! New Order finally !".

You are sooooo wrong! The Orders ARE fucking punk when on stage. I tend not to push other people cause I get so scared of the crowd sometimes but I don't mind it, in fact, I like it a lot!!!!

If you feel disturbed & bothered by other people, and prefer to dance for yourself, why don't you just stick to the live DVDs, and dance in your living room? Going to a gig IMHO involves inevitably that you get into physical contact with other people, and you might even get a bit sweaty. If you can't stand that, maybe live gigs are not the real thing for you?

Can you please reiterate to us just how many New Order concerts you've attended previously and what the atmosphere was like at those? You're new to all this, aren't you?

And why shouldn't people mosh at New Order concerts? What 'punk' song has got the guts of Crystal, Tranmission or Temptation? Why should people not want to ruck to such numbers? I always have, in the main, although Italy was a different affair because I was with my Mrs and most of our contingent were spread far and wide and, if I'm being honest, I thought the atmosphere was just rather pleasant and 'nice', bordering on tame, so didn't warrant such frivolities. Wasn't a night for a mosh, I wouldn't have said. Although I did jump around like a good 'un when they played EGG.

You ought to get out more, see a bit more of the world. Perhaps travel to see New Order in my country, if they ever play here again, and see how it's done properly!

Well, I guess it's something some people like, others don't...

I must say since there aren't too many outdoor gigs in Montreal, most being indoor with reserved seats, with sometimes a general admission section in front of the stage you can never get tickets for, usually it's standing in front of your seat and enjoying the ride.

And having an injured knee keeping me from being up for so long (don't ask me why I had no trouble for both New Order shows.. it's almost a miracle, but I had a hard time when it was the DJ set later in the night)

Saying we should watch a DVD because we don't like to have "physical" gigs it's a bit too far, c'mon, it's not the same thing... personally I don't dance too much, so going to a gig is not about dancing, but seeing the band and listening to it mostly and having a good time while doing so.

I guess it's up to everybody, but I don't fear going into a mosh pit, except Al Jarvis is taller than me though :eek3:

Hi, just want to thank the city of Turin one more time to have picked Manchester this year as theme for the Traffic making real a dream which is bringin the new order back to italy after a pair of decades maybe more I don't know ehe.. The gig was literally superb, I couldn't keep still because of the groove they pulled out!Absolutely wicked and dancy performance!! I reckon it is an historic event for us. Plus I had also a quick and funny sketch with shaun ryder around 5am @ murazzi del po, I couldn't ask more than this. Ace! 8)

Joy Division were definitely post-punk, therefore any Joy Division song (and these were the ones that people at the Turin gig moshed at) are fair game...

If you don't want to get in the way of people moshing, stand/dance/watch nearer the back, which is where I was - about halfway between the stage and the rig... Simple...

I don't mind a bit of moshing here and then, but prefer not to be barged around too much, hence why I don't watch near the front.

Speaking of moshing, there was quite a bit at that DJ set of Hooky's (especially during the punk-flavoured songs)!
