Yes, it was obviously planned. But even the people who got the Deluxe Boxes already, had different numbers.

This is the same Saville who designed a load of blank albums for the LP boxset and a plain white album sleeve with large orange letters 'N' & 'O' on it etc etc. Frankly I'm not too sure what was expected on the design front, his style is and always has been a deceptively minimalisitic approach. As for the price, this is more to do with market forces and the price of pressing limited vinyl these days. When they could easily shift 10-20K of any release you can afford to do more. A vinyl album these days can often retail at £20-25, which seems an awful lot compared to the £3.99 you'd see in the 80s.
I could imagine some of the older people might have record players. Maybe some vinyl fans might actually buy a record player to play what they own. As a young person, I don't know anyone my age who owns a record player, or vinyl for that matter. Not even people my parents age own record players any more. So maybe they have higher prices because fewer people buy vinyl compared to mp3s or CDs (and even people aren't buying CDs massively these days, either).

Well, despite the late delivery UPS and Rhino came up trumps for me. All delivered to my work address at second attempt and all correct - one standard and one deluxe set. Clear difference in weight and sticker on back of deluxe box with different code to the standard one.

i have a record player, my kids are 15/19 and they both play vinyl all the time. it's in the lounge so when they have friends round its the center of attention! they love it and even bring their own records to play on it 'cos they dont have one at home. it should be compulsory to have one!
I bought Blue Monday in 1983 on vinyl and it still sounds pretty good,I couldn't imagine not having a record player.
I have a very expensive British made turntable and the sound is far superior to my CD setup (which is pretty fine too) but I tend to play CD's more often for convenience.
The boxset arrived today. Nice, I can appreciate why people think the sleeves are naff (I do too) but why try to copy the originals when they would never be the originals? I have most of the originals so reproductions are always going to be second best without the age/history aspect. Don't know why I bought it?

According to UPS Tracking information my 2nd package was shipped at 17/12/2010 9:04 in Herford/Germany. In Düsseldorf UPS had a break because of adverse weather conditions. It arrived at 1 pm today.

Nobody has. The original mistake wasn't theirs but their communication is appalling. Why couldn't they have emailed everyone to tell them what was going on? And also to say that the contents have now been sent out (which they now have been, apparently).

It's on the adress sticker on the parcel.
Arrived today - left with a neighbour (fortunately).
2 five-track CDs, the art piece and a new bit of card with the number -207/-500.
CDs are marked 'promo only' - JDPM++ and JDPM--. Look like CDRs to me...
Nice to have the complete set at last.

just looked at the listing on HMV.com and, despite being 'unavailable', it states at the bottom: "Please be aware additional copies of this set are currently being pressed by the manufacturer." wtf does that mean?

That Saville piece of plastic is a bit crap - it's back to front and pressed/etched on a crappy bit of plastic?

Got my missing bits this morning (in time for Xmas - cutting it fine Rhino).
My set is -173 (I think all people who have had their standard boxes "deluxed" now have a minus limited numbers).
Quite like the orange perspex art piece (once I figured out that you have to peel all the sticky labels off).
Bit concerned that the CDs say they are promo copies not for sale. Are everyones CDs promo copies (or just the people getting missing bits). One wonders if they just slung the promo CDs in - instead of knocking up new copies?
Wonder where my remaining deluxe pieces are then? I left the house at 1pm and they hadn't arrived.....

Doh - wondered why it looked a bit naff - now that the sticky labels (both sides) are off, it looks quite nice! 
And, yup, the CDs are promo copies not for sale - same in every Deluxe box apparently :)

In my case, in addition to receiving the standard box when I ordered the deluxe, my box arrived damaged. Multiple emails to multiple email addresses (Rhino/Warners) have only received canned responses that I will receive the missing elements. WTF?
Received the missing bits yesterday with new 'minus' number, even though they were in fact not missing from my deluxe box. Interesting.
