I think if Julio feels this strongly then when New Order play that Brazil festival next month he should boycott the gig and stay at home. That'll show Bernard.

I am quite a simplistic sort of fella and my view is this. I live in the same village as the two of them. One is always happy to have a chat on the rare occasion you bump into him, he generally finishes with "thanks for supporting us" and shakes your hand, the other is a bit smug and arrogant - work out which is which!!

Maybe NOOL could take a poll of how many times fans have asked Barney or Hooky for awkwardly close cell phone pictures with them... and how many times they agreed or refused. And then come to some sort of conclusion of who is less arrogant... unless you conclude that the bigger egomaniac is the one who wants more attention.
Regarding the 'no Hooky, no New Order' comments I've seen online, if the band see that the demand for the 'new' New Order is greater than some of the people saying that, they probably will continue. The best some of the fans can do is to ignore this new New Order, or pretend they do not exist, instead of saying 'no Hooky no New Order' ALL the time online.
Oh and like I've said earlier about the venue sizes, maybe bigger isn't always better. Maybe there are advantages to these medium sized places than huge arenas with tens of thousands of people.

Erm.....I've been a musician for a long time now and I know musicians across the spectrum from up-and -coming to well-known names. I wouldn't usually broadcast this but I'm replying to the above quote. On the whole smugness and arrogance are "qualities" I certainly don't possess and it's rare that I come across it with people I know.

I have spoken with the "arrogant" one a few times. He is a nice chap, thanked for my support and I can't confirm that he is arrogant. The chatty one of them isn't arrogant either.
luckily im going to the troxy gig (even tho i said i would not if hooky wasnt playing....im a bit two faced....lol). im intrigued as to how the dynamic of the band will be without hooky as most of the attention will be on barney...and his dancing is kkkkrrraaaaap. The best gig i ever seen was new order at the tower ballroom in brum....smallish venue....and they blew the roof off the place...the band and the crowd were up for a good time ...so this small one off gig will be amazing...but a bit sad coz hooky is not there.

I did say "generally" because there are always exceptions but im also a musician and i can say from experience that it is the case,a lot of them are smug and arrogant because you need that arrogance and smugness to succeed or at the very least the confidence not to resort to writing music for the mainstream.
I dont believe that arrogance and smugness are a bad thing to be honest especially when its well founded.
Arguably if you didnt have the arrogance of johnny rotten for example its likely this website wouldnt be here today and hundreds of bands wouldnt have seen the light of day.
Sorry not been at a PC all day - yes that's my view. I was a bit unfair really on the arrogant piece. Peter does not seem as humble as Bernard would be a better way of putting it.
For me I saw a change at the Finsbury Park gig where Hooky was all over the stage and at one point Bernard asked where's Hooky.
I like both of them but Bernard comes across as a really nice guy who has time for everyone, can't say the same for Peter.
