Can someone just do what Rob Gretton did before Republic came out for the love of shite? Stick em all in a room with a few cases of beer and all will be well.

I have a feeling the situation is not as simple as that.

So just talking about this topic in this thread makes us 'traitors'?

This is a discussion forum and this topic is something that merits discussion, like whether or not you agree with its premise, that Hooky is being an idiot. Maybe he's just stirring the pot with a giant wooden spoon and does not care if doing so entails being seen as an idiot or drama queen… obviously I would like to hear Lost Sirens, and I wouldn't mind hearing the audio and video footage of Festival of the Tenth Summer that has apparently surfaced recently, however nobody said it would be easy. It's 26 years since the event, I guess a few more won't make any difference
Oh, and by the way, Festival of the Tenth summer audio and footage is not with Hooky, so you can't blame him for that not coming out. Do you really think Sumner can be arsed with that project? Doubt it.

Authorized live album, surprises in the live sets, largest amount of gigs since 1989.
All bets are off!

I don't think Hooky even drinks any more, and does Bernard still drink beer?
On a serious note, there would be far less broken friendships (and far less band members leaving) in the world if this is a realistic option (which it isn't). Life isn't that simple, you know?![]()

Agreed I don't think having Hooky and Bernard in the same room is an option right now.

Maybe that's the whole problem. :beer2:

You're right to say never say never but I reckon, unlike the Van Halens, New Order live in the real world (north of England) and in the real world after a certain amount of twatty behavior theres no going back.

Hooky used to have problems with alcohol and had alcoholism. I appreciate him quitting drinking because recovery from alcoholism is never easy, from what I hear.

Yeah, because a group of four people in their sixth decades of life can't do this without adult supervision... Well, that's Hooky's dumb argument.

In fairness, New Order's current management appear to be doing a sterling job. More gigs in a single year since 1989, more countries played in a single year since, well, ever, I guess? High profile slots such as the Olympic gig.
Not entirely sure what more they can be doing?

not nesessarily stored under his mattress but from the Uncut interview -
Hook also spoke about the recent discovery of Joy Division and New Order master tapes in Jamie Oliver's restaurant in Manchester and revealed that the find had yielded video footage and complete audio recordings of 'Festival Of The Tenth Summer'. 'Festival Of The Tenth Summer' ran in the summer of 1986 and was given to celebrate Manchester. It featured a gig at the city's GMEX venue with performances from the likes of The Smiths, Echo And The Bunnymen and The Fall. Hook added that due to his ongoing situation with New Order, it was unlikely the material from the festival would be released. Speaking about this, Hook said: "The greatest thing we found in Jamie Oliver's was actually 'The Tenth Summer' tapes. But because we've now fallen out and there's no communication between us, we're not going to be able to do anything with them, which is sad and so they're stuck in limbo. But there's video footage and the complete audio recordings of all the bands, Echo And The Bunnymen, Smiths, Buzzcocks, New Order. It would make a great record."

The Jamie Oliver situation turned out to be fake though. ![]()
It's not really Van Halen : the bass player from 1977-2006 wasn't even asked to be part of it, and replaced by the geetarists son (who wasn't even born when DLR was first in the band!).

When the bank closed years ago, the vaults were still full, that is true (the bank didn't leave all the stuff there, which was just bullshit), It's also true that there were JD/NO master material there and Festival of the tenth summer audio/video masters there. But this is going back years ago, not last month.

Yes, that is true, but Eddie and Alex hate David and so on....

Its that bad now that, yeah, fuck his images off from the top of the screen.
Watching Hooky on my NO DVDs isnt a nice experience any more, its an uncomfortable one.
But, like i said, he thinks we're all cunts anyway.
Well I'm just about to remove hooky's photo from my low-life CD and commission a remastering of Brotherhood with all of Hooky's bass parts removed ![]()

Most of the show was broadcast on radio, easily available, but not available as a full soundoard as far as I know.
