Well said. And keeping everybody happy which they seem to be doing is no easy task. As a stand alone year, with no recording costs to recoop, this may end up being one of their most profitable 12 months yet. They've still got Hooky chucking crap over the garden fence but that's impossible to control. Given the distractions and irritations that must have caused over the last few years they're doing a great job.

Good point about the number of countries...in the space of 12 months they will have visited all their major territories - Europe, Japan, Australia, NZ, South America and North America, don't think they've ever done that before. Being offered gigs in countries you've never played before like Chile and Serbia when your 30+ years deep into a career in an industry that's renowned for short shelf-life isn't too bad going.

I'm not sure how different things are now to how they've been for some time, just that now we have the internet to facilitate information, quotes and all kinds of shite getting known much more quickly. Hooky's always been the gobby heart on the sleeve type who shoots from the hip and doesn't worry about the consequences, whereas Bernard has always resisted the temptation to wash his dirty laundry in public, but conducts his business in private. Doesn't make either of them right or wrong, Bernard's been steadily gathering support from those who have to choose a side merely by keeping his trap shut, something Hooky will never be able to do. That doesn't mean Bernard's manipulation of the band and the current situation is any more right than Hooky's indignation.

They're as bad as one another, chalk and cheese, and that difference is what created the magic in the first place.

agreed again, it's the struggle between the two that made them great, they bounce off each other, sometimes positively, sometimes negatively, hope the get back to being positive some day.

you may not like the music but it was similar between lennon & mccartney, it wasn't so much freindship that made them write great songs, it was rivalry.

Not at all, I love them I just know some people don't but I was referring to the problems within the band making them better rather than their music.
