What's an obi strip? I didn't get any strip around the box anyway. There's the ribbon inside to ease getting the stuff out if that's what you mean.I didn't think the outer came with any strip😕

Mine was ordered through Amazon and had the strip around the box

Are you based in mainland Europe or the US?

I'm guessing that that strip is a way of putting the '15' age restriction on the box in territories that demand it.

Still, it's a nice addition.

PS I didn't get one with my set, which was ordered from the New Order Store.

☝️ That 15 rating is a UK-only rating AFAIK. Speaking of which, Gillian retweeted this last night:

Yodel delivered my New Order Store version of the set at lunchtime today (Sat 3rd). I originally assumed the 'True Faith' badges I also ordered were missing, but found them inside a labelope stuck to the outside cardboard packaging - had assumed it was the shipping documents! No sign of the Amazon version yet (3-4 October estimate now). So I guess I'll return the Amazon version as soon as I get it - even though it's now over £20 cheaper than the New Order Store version. Not so worried about the price difference now - just glad to have a copy!

I note that the iTunes version of this set (basically digital downloads of CDs 1 and 2) comes with a "2020 Remaster" of the full 22 min 'Video 586' that's not including in the physical set.

Hmm. OK, well bang goes that theory then.

Wonder why the New Order Store versions don't have the Obi. You'd think, if anything, the NO Store ones would contain that extra little bit of ephemera.

It's a bit annoying, but I guess I can live without it.

Hmmm. Interesting. Might have to get that. I thought it was a little odd it wasn't included when the box set contents were originally listed. It looks like they went through the remastering processing, but possibly decided that there was no room in the set.

My copy arrived this morning from the Neworder Store.

I opened the box and instinctively uttered "oh my God!" when I saw the quality of the cover of the vinyl LP - such beauty.

Sincerest thanks to all those who brought this thing of rare beauty into being.

It's not ephemera, it's an age rating. New Order's online store wouldn't be obliged to put a rating on the box, but retailers like Amazon and physical record shops are.

I have a copy of Led Zeppelin's Houses Of The Holy that uses a horizontal obi to censor the naked children climbing Giants Causeway on the cover. It's a pain to slip that thing off and on when I want to play the album.

Trouble is, on iTunes, tracks over 10 mins in length are "album only" and can't be downloaded individually. Looks to be the same on Qobuz and Amazon too. Not buying the whole album again just for a digital remaster of something I already have on the old CD single. Let's face it, it had quite ropey sound quality anyway, so can't imagine a 2020 remaster makes it sound that different.

A shame there wasn't a digital download code for 'Video 5 8 6' including with the physical box set for completion's sake though.

I hope you mean 22 minute version. Because although there were 3 split parts of this song, there was never a 2 minute one.

I didn't know this 10' rule. Anyway, it's a shame, this rule should not exist.

Well, it's both. Although it is serving a legal purpose, by its very existence as part of a lavish box set, most collectors would (presumably) rather have one that not have it.

Of course, if anyone doesn't want theirs, I'd be happy to take it off their hands! [;)]

As age ratings go, it's a nice one. They could've just slapped a sticker on the shrink wrapping.

Yeah, typo. 22 minute version.

Just watching the 1982 Hacienda live set on the DVD. Interesting to hear how much they sped up the tempo of the 'Movement' songs. They either wanted to liven them up a bit to match the feel of the new material, or race through them to get to the better new songs!

Lovely transition from '5 8 6' into 'Temptation' and then further on into 'Everythings's Gone Green' in the 1982 Hacienda set...!

Kilkenny 'Temptation' is colossal. This is the point they finally nailed that song.

Great ultra slo-mo of Gillian the last to leave the stage at the end of the Hacienda 82 gig[;)]

Some parts of the writing session recording of The Village are very similar to parts of the ‘When I’m With You’ Sparks cover they did at Rolling Stone, Milan June 82. The keyboards at one point are in fact the exact same. You could mix the 2 together.

Edit: just listened again and I now can’t find the part. Must have dreamt it.

This kind of ethic and creativity is sorely missed. Years ago I had one of those crappy Lust for Live bootleg CDs and the guy I was hanging out with said it sounded shit. I enjoyed it and at the same time agreed with him.

I'm really enjoying the content so far. Almost more so than the Movement box-set, which I thought would be difficult to top but the sheer amount of material on the DVDs... my cup runneth over doesn't begin to do it justice.

Really well done to the band, label and "local heroes" such as JJ. Thinking forward to what the Low-life, Brotherhood and Technique box-sets might contain boggles the mind.

Anyone noticed on the Metropol, Berlin 1984 performance of Confusion the first minute and a half is actually Sister Ray? Fabulous.

Yes, Sister Ray at start.

I got a bit disoriented last night watching that Metropol footage.Gillian was in her usual position to left of stage as you look at it but then then the camera kept switching and she was on the right. After a few parts like this i figured there must be giant mirrors on both side walls of the venue, high up and the camera was capturing the mirror image of the band on stage.

Anyone found the 9 and a half minute Video 5-8-6 on the second DVD?

As I'm watching on a PC I can see all the chapters but can't find it on the menu so perhaps an "Easter egg" of sorts?

It's not indexed. Let the Hacienda show play out, and it's added after.

Yep. I’ve mentioned it about three times earlier on in the thread. [;)]

I don’t think you can select it on a DVD player, but it plays after the last track on the Haç gig.

Really enjoy seeing the speed of progress - from the June 82 Hacienda gig where they are still playing Movement-era stuff interspersed with the new PCL sequencer-based tracks - and then a year later the only Movement track they play is Denial and it sticks out like even more of a sore thumb

Compare that to a year later, listening to that great Barcelona Studio 54 bootleg and there is only new song - and it's they didn't even keep for the next album (Skullcrusher)

I really think this boxset documents one of their most amazing periods so well.

Also - only really noticed from some of the live versions of the Village how much it's a rewrite of Temptation (adding an extra chord)

The authoring on the DVDs seems weird - trying to rip the videos for my media library and Handbrake doesn't seem to recognise any of the extras on DVD1 (just shows two titles - the Hacienda and the Kilkenny gigs) and DVD2 doesn't show the Video586 chapter

Seems like MakeMKV works better and picks them up, but it's unusual for Handbrake not to work first time
