It'll be shit. You know it will. Much as I'd love it to be a latter-day gem like Turn, it won't be. Shite lyrics, no vocal melody, paper thin vocals, that same drum beat that's on most of WFTSC and a meandering bass lead that is Hooky on autopilot.
I hope I'm wrong, though init

Since it's a best-of compilation, it's really odd for them to spare a space for an unreleased song... However thay may be the very salvation for the track. And being in a collection of greatest tunes, the new track should be on par with them. Logical?

Which could be seen as a positive. Someone somewhere clearly thinks a quick blast of it will tempt people into making a purchase rather than it putting them off.

yeap, so they say:

Does the cover spell TOT as in "New Order is dead", or is it "The Other Two", or possibly ToT the band?
I'm looking forward to hearing something new, no matter what it is, but surely the album is miss named, total would imply everything that had been recorded, should have been called partial ![]()
So I am guessing the band couldn't be arsed to put out a "Hellbent" single?
Though I should be careful what I wish for since I have never heard the track.

What do we want instead of another greatest hits?
Republic, Get Ready, WFTSC double-disc-reissues? A "new" album of the unfinished songs and late-period non-LP tracks? Academy, Pumped Full Of Drugs, and Montreux 1993 on DVD? The yanked, but finished, archival live albums? A new remix project?
Nah, greatest hits of 18 songs you've already heard... and one you haven't.
Here it is... REALLY !!!
go on "Listen Back" and then at 64:50min...
ENJOY !!!
Thanks!! Well, I like it!!!! It's something between Player In The League and Dracula's Castle. A pity it never made to a proper album.

Danke schön. ![]()
Thanks for finding this!
Hmmm. Tempo a bit sluggish. Some tasty licks from, probably, Phil. Would have fitted better on Get Ready (and, indeed, Twisted Tenderness) than on WFTSC.
5 or 6/10.
Don’t want to be Captain Killjoy, but that is an adequate late-Order B-side at best.
If it had been on, say, the "Jetstream"-single I would have liked it OK...but it's not a case of "why the fuck didn't they put this on the album?".
Gonna pass on Total although I will certainly pay for this track - if it’s available separately.

Thank the Lordsy
Heard it 3 times before it got pulled.Might sound better LIVE though quite interesting in view of the circumstances!
Lot of apathy around this joint these days.![]()
...on the plus side, this has at least reminded me that this place existed... And why I gave up any hope of any truly wonderful emerging from the band, collectively or individually, again... In a year where so much good new music has already been released, I guess there isn't really a place for late period NO-by-numbers any more...

Best thing New Order have done in years. Love it. Better than 70% of the stuff on WFTSC (IMO).
It will be a huge summer hit. Fans and promoters will be queuing up to get a New Order tour underway. Followed by a return to the studio for the band, resulting in a brand new album "Hey Now What You Waiting For?"

Unless that's a brilliant piss-take....![]()
Anyway, I found it neither good nor bad. I don't hate it as much as Jetstream, but it's something I wouldn't say 'Oh I love this song'. Just another average NO song of the recent decade or so...
Can't believe there's a 'watcha doin' in there...![]()
It's not the worst thing I've ever heard but someone's going to hell for packaging this next to LWTUA, Atmos, True Faith, Blue Monday et al...
blunt laser wrote: Better than BL though right?!
Depends, really. It’s better than, say, ”Dynamo”. But then so is a shit on a stick. If I compare it to BL’s ‘outtakes’, it’s about as good as “How Long” but nowhere near as good as “Higher Wider Deeper”.

Surprise surprise a "what yer doing?" in the very first line.
Quite like the intro, Hooky and the bits of synth coming in after Barney's first lyrics
"You're a star in the sea" etc etc etc....
Erm, ... s'alright in places i guess
