New Track 'Hellbent' On Forthcoming Compilation

I like it. I think its a really great NO track, irrespective of how it came to be on this compy. Its nice and uplifting, classic London-era New Order.

However, you've more chance of getting a wank off the pope than me shelling out for the album. Their last chance is to put it on iTunes or else I'll rob it from somewhere, I cant say fairer than that.

I'm stunned that people are calling it amazing etc.

i'm gonna buy the cd to see if those gobshites at london have fixed the problems that were on singles. after the +- disaster i am surprised they have even shown their faces with a new product!

anyways, its not bad a song.. back in the old days i did a lot more analysis than this..

that's what happens when you have a math major, that's interested in music/computers/graphics/photography/video etc..

and it's not like there's much real new order material to discuss anyways..

my two cents is that this is actually quite a decent track. it's not gonna change any lives but w/e. its summery, it's new order. i could go into length as to why it's not as good as X,Y,Z but whats the point. it is what it is. it's new, now we've heard it. yay !

Just heard it.... hmmmmmm .......not actually bad....... ummmmm...... not actually good either..... ermmmmmmmm...... bit of a b-side innit?...... oh, for fecks sake fellas, just get back together and produce some kick ass punky tracks like yer did when you first got together as Warsaw..... just coz you're middle aged, doesn't mean ya have to be middle-of the-road.

I LOVE New Order more than is reasonable for a normal person - I cannot stress this enough..... they are fantastic (but not above occasional criticism). Whilst some of their London-era stuff has been good, too much of it has been mid-tempo, middle of the road stuff that Cameron and Clegg probably click their fingers to and think "hey this is cool and edgy... just like Coldplay".

I still love 'em enough to believe one day they might put out something worthwhile again (or at least give us another decent live show before one of them kicks the bucket!).

It's better than half the songs on WFTSC (jetstream, dracula, TYS), but not as good as the other half. Would have been an average song in this average album (or in the previous one - sounds a little bit like Brutal or PITL, btw).

Still, I'm happy to hear it and am quite enjoying it, but within a few days it will be forgotten.

I like it a good bit, but by no means loved it. Would have been good on Get Ready as a deep album cut, could've replaced Slow Jam, though I love the In Sessions version of that one. Couldn't agree more with the last post, very much thought of Brutal on first listen. Didn't think the lyrics were all crap. Typical late-era Sumner, quite liked the refrain.

Overall, 6/10 or better than average.

Too bad the NO 'tab community' is so weak, I love the song's bass, but I can't learn it by ear yet.

Sounds like a Get Ready leftover, sort of a Happy Mondays vibe attempt. Produced by Steve Osbourne?

Suppose better than nothing. Hardly single material. Was hoping for one of the supposed single quality lost WFTSC 2 tracks.

An instrumental would be nice. The musics quite nice. Love that slow walking bassline at the start and some of the synthy bits are classic NO. Nice echoes of Brutal in there somewhere. I'm with Fiddy about that whatchadooin lyric too.

Sounds like a demo that someone's twiddled with.

Right. If I found a place for "Hellbent" among a list of all 15 BL songs, from best to worst, it would end up in the bottom half. Compared with the GR-era tracks, and even the WFTSC-era tracks we've heard, it's in the relegation zone.

I'm one of the number who finds "Hellbent" very reminiscent of "Sabotage" and "Brutal", and a little bit of "PITL" - but I don't like it as much as any of those.
